Not to put words in Emmanuele' mouth. But what I think he means is
that putting a dock on the screen for the reasons of getting user's
back should not be itself be a goal. The desktop community has an ebb
and flow. People are constantly moving from one desktop to another as
each one makes a new release, at least that is my observation. We
should focus on making sure that we have a high quality desktop that
conforms to our design philosophy of Just Works and distraction free
computing.
