gnome start up problems

I am getting the following errors when I start up gnome session:  See
attached.

I get continuing error messages that the icons cannot be found so the panel
appears without any icons on it.  When I shutdown the gmc program crashes.

Is there anything else that needs to be done in the installation process?

I compiled all of the programs using the list supplied on the gnome web
site.  I am running this on FreeBSD 3.4 with xfree86 3.3.6 and the
enlightenment window manager when operates without error.
