I'm not sure how you would create a graphical preview of, say, a
Gnumeric spreadsheet using PersistStream.

Wouldn't it be nicer to have the host app for the document expose a
PreviewControl interface (using a moniker). Thus, the host app has
responsibility for the preview. For apps that don't support the
interface, there could be a fallback mechanism.

Also note that for a lot of doc types a picture is not necessarily the
best preview; the subject, author, language, word count, revision may be
more useful. A couple of words may say more than a picture...
