Just in case, Yves Combe, a gcompris contributor has developped an import/export function to/from SVG. To save you give it a canvas group and it create an svg files. It supports animated svg and images. To load, you give it a SVG file and a created canvas group. The SVG content will be included in this group. In case of animation, a new root group is created per frame. The code can be found in the gcompris gnome CVS under src/gcompris/svgutil.c It far from a complete implementation, it's just enough for our need in gcompris but may help. Bruno.
