In my opinion, the "location" field make Nautilus look like a web
browser. So people will expect Nautilus to act as a web browser even if
it's not. The same goes for FTP for example. If the location field isn't
there, you assume Nautilus is just a file manager. Else, you assume it's
a universal browser, which it is not at the current time. So I think
whether you decide Nautilus is just a file browser (which don't really
need to have a _visible_ location field) or you decide it's a universal
viewer. In the second case, you have to make sure ftp://, smb://,
http:// etc... work fine, which is not the case currently (you can't
edit a file from ftp:// for example, or the login/password has to be put
in URI etc...).
