well, ggv for example gets along quite good with suffixless files, be 
it pdf or postscript, so that works well with balsa. I only noticed 
problems with file-roller, but I don't handle many attachments.

Just tested an OpenOffice-document, and that works suffixless as well.

I opened a new bug for file-roller regarding this issue, let's see what 
they have to say about all that. :)
