This sounds like good progress. Thank you for the update, hadess.

Kino is in a strict feature freeze with the goal of a 1.0 release by the
end of the year because very good progress has already been made towards
Kino 2.0, which is much more ambitious but likely to take quite some
time. Therefore, there will need to be a separate app.

I think there is already something to help author (S)VCDs, but I have
not paid attention. Little progress has been made in any project for a
dvdauthor GUI. I think the best I have seen is a Java Swing app called
Varsha that can generate simple menus and automate burning through
mkisofs and dvd+rw-tools. So, there is definitely an opening for a
rather large project in this area (IOW, don't look here ;-)! Ideally,
such a tool can open or import the dvdauthor xml instead of requiring a
new format because Kino is currently able to generate a basic dvdauthor
xml along with the mpeg files it outputs. If such a tool becomes
available, it would not be unreasonable to add a function within Kino to
launch the tool upon completion of export.
