I'd have to disagree here - IME many users will be pretty competant on a
pc and as a result will use nested directories for more accurate filing.
And in addition these users are not interested in learning a bunch of
keystrokes so that they can have similar behaviour to that which they're
used to, i.e. folders opening in the same window. 

IMHO if we want to get people to shift from Windoze then we're gonna
have to ensure the move is painless as possible. That doesn't
necessarily we have to mirror windoze behaviour but we should definitely
avoid making the default for gnome more cumbersome...
