I may be misunderstanding this, but it sounds like he's developed
a generic message posting solution like syslog, but for application
programs. If all programs went through some standard
library to display errors and messages, then how they're actually
presented could be customized in one place. Maybe you just
have it pop up a dialog like normal. Maybe you want
your error dialogs to use speach synthesis to talk to you.
Maybe you want it to send the errors to your text pager or
cell phone.
