Imho the best option would be to scrap both and use Gecko, which might

thanks for your reply. i do see the advantages of using GECKO but how do
you separate it from the rest of the mozilla stuff ? i mean it makes no
sense to install a 25mb binary mozilla package to use the GECKO engine
only. not to mention that it has all the XUL stuff embeded that makes it
nearly NOT integrateable into gnome ? not to mention that the galeon
people were waiting months before a suitable gtk2 embed mozilla arrived
(luckely it's there after you patch like mad). how do you prevent such
things from happening in the future ? i could easily extend this list
but i think you know the disadvantages of using GECKO as is now as good
as i do. a real solution would be a good way. using gecko is only a good
alternative.
The mozilla folks are looking at producing a "Gecko Runtime Environment"
for apps that wish to embed Gecko (it is basically just XPCOM, the Gecko
rendering engine and the network code), which you might be interested in.
If you need the XUL stuff, there is a superset of GRE being developped
called XRE.
James.
