gtk+ version in cvs

I've built gtk+ from cvs HEAD, but unfortunately the
version number is 2.2.0 and not 2.2.1 (gtk+-2.0.pc).
My local cvs tree is clean and up-to-date, so I can't
understand this. I'm using cvs HEAD.
Has anybody an idea what's wrong?
