The thing with fifth toe is that it doesn't have the same high-standard
inclusion guidelines GNOME Desktop has. The original Cantus proposal
was met mostly with lists of requirements for accessibility, usability,
translation, release commitment, etc. Apps that do meet these
requirements are generally of very high quality. A lot of developers
may be willing to meet these requirements, but their apps simply don't
have a place in the core Desktop. Moving them to a package collection
that doesn't have our usual high quality standards may result in poorer
applications, as the developers lose a lot of the incentive to put that
high amount of effort into their app. There also comes the question of
getting the app in GNOME CVS for translators. A GNOME Extras release,
that followed the same release standards as Desktop, but which was
comprised of "add-on" or fringe applications may thus be useful. Maybe
Fifth Toe could become that release set?
